Photo Diary: Show us your storytime space!

For the inaugural Storytime Underground Photo Diary, we asked you guerrillas to show us your storytime space. These are the images we’ve received, and boy howdy, am I jealous.

From Linda Thorne (in Perth, AUSTRALIA!!!)

We have a book totem, a special Storytime chair and there is a beautiful mural spelling out “Once Upon a Time,” painted by local children’s book illustrators.

From Jennifer Wharton:

The large chalky wall is a chalkboard, recently painted. The single door next to it leads into the workroom/my office, a large area I share with the circulation staff, my off-site programmer, aide, and many carts.

The big door and little door lead out into our play area.

The open door is a child-sized puppet theater, behind which is my storage space.

The other side of the two doors is our play area. During busy/crowded storytimes, they tend to spill out into this area as fussy/wiggly children (or those who just prefer the train table to stories at the moment) come and go. We have a train table, Duplo table, and various puzzles and toys on the shelves as well as all our Tub Books.

My favorite part about my storytime room is the bright colorful walls.

From Lisa Shaia:

I like how I can have circle time and craft time in the same room.

From Elizabeth Murray:

I love/ hate our walls because they work great as a place to stick our Velcro name tags but we cannot get staples in the material so everything is hung with pins.

From Mary Kuehner:

One of many - as my storytimes are all in outreach locations. This is at a Head Start that's housed in an old elementary school. This is the school library. There are 12 classrooms and they come visit me in the library - makes storytime extra special. I'm there 4 times a month, seeing 3 classes each visit. The giant bear is not mine; he appeared there on this visit and decided to stay and enjoy the stories. His mom was working the reference desk: http://instagram.com/p/h_b8J1xHcb/.
